5 Dog-Friendly Coffee Shops in Phoenix

Writer's picture: H&H Founder, AlexisH&H Founder, Alexis

Nothing pairs better than dogs and coffee. I’m getting a little deep here, but I think both remind us to live in the moment and savor sitting and enjoying the atmosphere around us.

With that being said, I am pretty picky about my dog-friendly coffee shops. We are lucky because the Phoenix coffee scene is superior and there’s no lack of quality roasts in the city, but our truly dog-friendly options are limited, and I am always searching for new places to test how convenient it is to bring our dog and recommend it to our pet parents. I look for places I can go by myself with my dog and not have to leave her tied up to order, and also with good seating to practice her socialization and allow me to work a bit. Our hot weather stops us from enjoying most coffee shops with our pups for months at a time, so finding spots while we are able to go is so important!

Situated in a perfect spot in midtown Phoenix by the Heard Museum and Phoenix Art Museum, Bang Bang Coffee is such a fun walk-up, community spot that has quickly become my favorite Phoenix coffee shop to take my dog. Not only is the mini brick coffee house within a courtyard a picturesque view to walk up to, it lends itself to the ideal dog-friendly experience! Walk up with your pup, grab a coffee and a waffle for yourself and a treat for your dog, and enjoy the courtyard filled with trees and the sounds of birds and the city around you.

Location: 10 W. Vernon Ave, Phoenix AZ

Hours: Everyday 7 am-1 pm

Window Coffee Bar has quickly become a Phoenix staple coffee shop with its fun drinks and awesome staff. Their second coffee shop location in the LGBTQ+-friendly Melrose District is smaller than their Camelback location, but much more dog-friendly! Sitting among other shops and restaurants and facing into a courtyard with turf and chairs, you can order from the window with your dog, and spend some time relaxing and drinking your award-winning coffee. Be sure to ask the staff what their favorite drinks and pastries are when you’re there…it’s always a surprise and always tastes great!

Location: The Royale at 635 W Glenrosa Ave suite 109, Phoenix, AZ 85013

Hours: Everyday 6 am-2 pm

Songbird Coffee and Tea House in Phoenix

Ooh, don’t get me started on my love for Songbird Coffee and Tea House! Phoenicians know that Songbird has been a coffee and community leader through every stage of downtown Phoenix’s growth, and they love pets as much as we do, even caring for their famous shop cat, Inky Bob. Order through the door with the ‘dog walker’ sign on it, and then enjoy time with your pup in the patio and front yard of the 1904 Phoenix historic home. Songbird is sure to be on your list of favorite coffee shops in Phoenix, and a beautiful representation to take any out of town guests and still bring your dog, too!

Location: 812 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Hours: 7 days/week 6 am-6 pm

Another walk-up coffee window and courtyard perfect for hanging with your pup, Honeycomb Coffee Co. is situated in the historic Coronado neighborhood of Phoenix and within a collective of artists and small businesses known as Hive on 16th. Cozy and bright patio furniture make socializing or working in the courtyard easy, and you’re bound to enjoy the fellow shops around them, who are also so welcoming to any dogs! Honeycomb itself has a variety of fun drinks to choose from, and they partner with local beekeepers for all their food and drinks.

  1. 32 SHEA

One of my favorite longtime haunts, 32 SHEA is made even better because they are so welcoming to dogs! The first thing you see when you come onto their patio are hooks for leashes so you can go inside to order (or order online at a table), and dog bowls to fill up at a water station so your pup can enjoy a drink with you. Located in North Phoenix in the “Sheaborhood,” 32 SHEA has been a staple for the schools scattered in the area and the suburbs surrounding it. My personal favorite coffee is their Pistachio Latte, but you can always expect a great drink with their seasonal offerings and homemade syrups. They even have a drive thru if you’re on the go with your dog and just want a dog-friendly face to take your order!

Location: 10626 N. 32nd St., Phoenix, AZ 85028

Hours: Monday–Friday 6 am–8 pm, Saturday 7 am–8 pm, Sunday 7 am–3 pm

First Place Coffee Truck in Phoenix

Take one look at First Place Coffee Truck’s Instagram and you will see how obsessed they are with the dogs that visit them! The coffee truck has become a haven for Phoenix dog parents to not only bring their dog and enjoy a specialty coffee drink like The Diablo or the Tahini Fig, but to have their dog be the star of the show. Bistro tables set up and always set up near other small businesses, First Place is guaranteed to be one of your favorite dog-friendly coffee shops…it’s just that this one moves. ;)
